We’ve just finished work on a film for GL Assessment, who are a leading provider of independent tests and assessments for school aged children. The aim of the film was to deliver a lot of information in a way that remained interesting throughout, but without the visuals distracting from the message.
Because the nature of the organisation is educational, we chose a style that the target audience could relate to. The animation is set on a school desk, with hand-drawn images, actual objects and a few body parts interacting to illustrate the information.
Geek bit: The animation looks like stop motion (where real objects are moved in front of the camera, one frame at a time), but in fact each item (including the hands) was either photographed or created in Photoshop, and then animated in After Effects.
