Collisions and Explosions of the Universe

On the smallest to the largest scales, collisions and explosions happen all over our Universe. Join the ROG astronomers as they uncover some of the most explosive events in space.

We worked with Royal Observatory Greenwich (ROG) for the second year in a row to produce three educational science films to inspire young astronomers; this one aimed at a KS3/KS4 audience. The films form part of a learning resource for teachers and those wishing to understand the concepts, and are accompanied on the ROG website by downloadable curriculum-linked resources that provide more details about the topics covered.

Dhara Patel, the Astronomy Education Officer at ROG, said ‘This is the second year we have chosen to work with Slurpy Studios to create our videos. The team understand our brief and audience very well. As such they have created bright and humorous films with a distinct visual style that we absolutely love. They make the feedback process incredibly simple and are very flexible, making them a great company to work with. We are really pleased with the films this year; the blend of the visual style, colour palette and music have resulted in three fantastically animated films which we’re sure will be a hit with not only our schools audience but the wider public too.’

Other films cover How did the Solar System form? and Where does space begin?
